IN SEARCH OF A WORD

I went out in search of a Word
To a place where no speech
No voice is heard

Only the sound of birds in the trees
Wind in the pines
A breeze brushing the clear
Surface of a pond.

And high on a hill above it all
Unsheltered in the bitter wind
I could see and think
For miles and years....

  1. On that hill, you could see and think... and receive the Word you went out in search for. I am so curious to know how the birds sounded. What time of day was it? Was it the time when a nightingale might sing?

    1. The bird song I'm most familiar with are the robin and blackbird here in Dublin. There were lots of robins that evening between 4.30 pm & 8pm. I don't know the nightingale at all. The most beautiful bird song I've ever heard is the rain bird in Tanzania - a deep resonant flute sound that has great variety.
